Ann Arbor Hosts Paranormal Cirque

Paranormal Cirque aims to titillate A2

Last year Shirley and I had the privilege of witnessing Paranormal Cirque not once, but twice! First, we entered the Big Top in Dearborn where we were delighted by a dark tonic of gallows humor, burlesque, and dazzling circus acts! The following weekend we traveled to Sterling Heights to enjoy the scintillating show once more, and we were no less impressed.

Now, the R-rated, horror spectacle descends upon Ann Arbor and we are stoked to feast our eyes once again upon the unrivaled talents of this most unique traveling troupe! Last year, we marveled at a juggling Undertaker, were hypnotized by luscious vampires, and left breathless by a series of high-flying, dare devils! We’ll be entertained by a separate leg of the tour this time around, and we’re excited to see what new ingredients have been added to this most potent potion.

One underappreciated aspect of last year’s Dearborn production was the inclusion of a miniature haunted house, accessible to ticketholders prior to the main show. The abbreviated spook house leaned heavily into old school elements like sensory deprivation which delivered a quick spike of adrenaline. Scenery was sparse, but the engaged and physical cast provided a wild, smashmouth warm up to the night’s main attraction.

In my imagination, Paranormal Cirque is the lovechild of Edgar Allan Poe and P.T. Barnum come to life, and folks, it’s darkly delicious! Ann Arbor, we’ll see you tonight!
