It’s that time of year once more. Halloween? Well no, not THE haunt season, rather the macabre midpoint of the calendar — Halfway to Halloween! Officially, the exact date between one Halloween and the next is observed on the evening and late night hours that intersect April 30th and May 1st. So, let us think of this as something of a mini haunt season.

The Halfway to Halloween Expo is unleased tonight at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The expo has been expanded to two dates this year — Friday, May 8th from 7-11p and Saturday, May 9th from 12 -7p. The event welcomes horror fans, haunted attraction enthusiasts, and curious members of the general public. Offerings include food vendors, stage shows, a costume contest, and a fabulously eerie marketplace where a variety of creative creeps sell everything from stickers, buttons, and pins to pickled oddities, gnarly gumball machines, and all manner of dark art.
And get this, there’s even a haunted attraction — a collaborative effort from 8 separate crews that include Scream Machine, Nightmare Realm, and Village of the Living Dead. And wouldn’t you know, for one night only (and that would be tonight) the attraction is exclusive to those 18+. What whacked out scenes and screams will this unique meeting of the minds conjure?! Those who are legal adults can find out tonight!
The Halfway to Halloween Expo is located at 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Road in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Please visit the event organizer’s website for pricing and other pertinent details: Halfway to Halloween Expo
CANDY-CRAZED KIDS OVERRUN COVENSFIELD?
Now, what’s all this noise about a new candy story in Covensfield at Deranged Haunt?! Strange reports of sugar-fueled, feral youths have splashed across area papers like hantavirus on a cruise ship (too soon?). Well, it would seem that former Mayor Lumpy Conwell has reemerged from the shadows and concocted a new profit-driven scheme.

The elusive psychopath has purchased the tainted property once known as GreeNo Industries and transformed it into a self-styled candy shop called Conwell Candy Company. Just where the hell is Mayor Victor Kalloway? Why haven’t the citizens of Covensfield risen up against Conwell’s tyranny?! Is it true that he’s marshalled a slavish workforce of bizarre creatures known only as Herpie Derpies?!
And for the love of all things decent, if you find yourself in the vicinity of Conwell’s storefront — do not put anything called a SourPuss Slobber Knocker in your mouth. You will live to regret it, you fools!!
Deranged Haunt will be open Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th with the box office operating from 8:45-10p. You can also purchase tickets in advance online at Deranged Haunt.
Deranged is located at 35560 Goddard Road in Romulus, Michigan.
Safe travels, kids, and Happy Halfway to Halloween!
