I recently wrote about our experience at the 2026 Halfway to Halloween Expo at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds in Ann Arbor. Frequent readers of Horrorlust may recall that among the vendors, food trucks, and wandering characters was also a haunted attraction — Slaughter Creek Psychiatric Hospital.
Remember, we attended the expo on Friday night, and on that evening, the haunt was advertised as adults only. So, keep that in mind before you press play on the video below. For the curious among you, I used two pieces of equipment to capture these images: a bodycam that was attached to my shirt and equipped with an infrared lens, and a handheld vlogging camcorder. In this video, I used parts of each recording to stitch together what you’re about to see. However, the audio is entirely from the latter which was a DJI Osmo Pocket 3.
For anyone interested in recording these types of videos, I’d strongly recommended that you not rely on bodycam audio alone. I’ve discovered that in loud, chaotic environments, the audio is consistently at or beyond peaking (going in the red) and causing audible distortions.
