Personally, the 2020 haunted house season was a subdued one. However, it did produce one which stirred that special blend of magic and mystery. Ghostly Grove is located in Pinckney and first opened in 2018. The little-known village is no stranger to haunted hijinks. Pinckney is also home to the long-standing Terrorfied Forest & Manor. It also hosted the short-lived Dark Box five years ago. Now, Ghostly Grove will continue this proud tradition. During my visit, I witnessed an overall quality that belied its years. In an age ravaged by mediocrity and cynicism, it can take an unexpected twist to reignite a fire.
Ghostly Grove did require a relatively lengthy wait in line, but the end result left me inspired anew. A chance encounter with the owner led to a conversation about future plans for the attraction. He later revealed that the former management of Terrorfied Forest & Manor is now running his show. That ain’t a bad ace in the hole, friends. The Spirit of Halloween is alive, indeed.
