Like the plodding wall of clouds above, notes of Devil’s Night still linger in the air. But as the hours slip by and the veil thins, the full Spirit of Halloween is empowered, emboldened. What imprint will you burn into your soul on this night? In what way will your energy leave a signature on this All Hallow’s Eve?
Much as it has been in recent years, first we shall observe the time-honored tradition of trick r’ treat so that the little ones may feel the magic that we once did and thus carry these rites and rituals into an uncertain future. There will be laughter and howls and all manner of characters pouring forth from every dwelling and alleyway. We’ll marvel at yard displays and dash through the thrill of wistful home haunts.
Once returned home, kiddies content, and with the veil all but cast aside — the true creatures of the night shall emerge once more to revel in the transience and mystery that is Samhain. But, beware of others and beware of yourselves, for as a wise man once warned — give a man a mask and he’ll show you his true face.
