The final Word of the Week for the 2010 season was posted on Monday, October 18, 2010.
The third installment in the Halloween themed Word of the Week has roots throughout the spectrum of scariness. For example it’s also the name of the 1979 cult horror film Phantasm which spawned three sequels over a nearly twenty year span. Author Edgar Allen Poe also put the word and its derivatives to good use in his famous tale “The Fall of the House of Usher.”
phantasm [fan-ta-zem] – noun: a product of the imagination, illusion.
