Haunting By Numbers: 2015 Haunt Season

2015 offered a haunt season not soon to be forgotten. Let us now ponder some pertinent numbers.

31: Number of attractions at 21 unique locations visited in 2015 — this total topped the previous record of 24 attractions set in 2014.

10: Glorious fright-filled nights spent touring Michigan’s scariest places, a total that matches the all-time high established in 2011.

10: First time tours, another single season record.

8: Counties in Michigan where we stopped for haunted attractions. Those counties included Macomb, Washtenaw, Livingston, Ingham, Oakland, Genesee, Lapeer and our home county of Wayne.

6: Number of haunted attractions toured on the night of Saturday, October 24, 2016 comprised of events at Clio Manor, Exit 13 and Dreadlands Haunt of Davison.

11: Attractions that were either a trail, hayride, corn maze, blackout maze or paintball event.

966: Total miles spent burning rubber during the 2015 haunt season. This tally falls short of the all-time single season record of 1,203 miles which was set in 2012.

9: Consecutive years visiting the Wyandotte Jaycees haunted house; an unparalleled streak.

Haunting By Numbers: 2014 Haunt Season

2014 offered a haunt season not soon to be forgotten. Let us now ponder some pertinent numbers.

24: Number of attractions at 14 unique locations that we visited — this total topped the previous record of 23 first set in 2011 and then matched in 2013.

7: Spooky nights spent touring fright filled stomping grounds.

5: Never before toured haunted houses.

7: Counties in Michigan and Ohio where we braked for haunted house goodness; included were Genesee, Hillsdale, Jackson, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne in the Mitten State while Cuyahoga was the lone representative from the Buckeye State.

4: Separate locations with a total of six haunted attractions that we visited on the night of November 1, 2014 — a one night record.

320: Round trip miles racked up during the infamous Cleveland Turn N’ Burn which saw us tour The Fear Experience and Bloodview Haunted House.

10: Haunted attractions that were visited in a single 24-hour period on Friday, October 17, 2014 and Saturday, October 18, 2014.

863: Total miles driven during the 2014 haunt season.

2010: The year in which a haunted attraction last earned a 5 star rating.

Haunting By Numbers: 2013 Haunt Season

Spring is upon us which means we have officially passed the half way point to Halloween; the countdown is on! With that in mind, let us pause and reflect on the notable numbers from the 2013 haunt season.

23: Total number of haunted attractions we visited last fall at 17 separate locations; this total ties our personal record first set in 2011.

7: Moonlit nights spent pounding the pavement en route to all breeds of haunted attraction.

6: New locations that offered up fresh haunting fun.

8: Counties we visited in our quest to tour Michigan’s best spooky places. We made stops in Genesee, Hillsdale, Jackson, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Saginaw, and of course, Wayne.

13: As in September 13th — our first night out of the season and now the earliest we’ve begun a haunt season, edging out our 2012 visit to Scarefest Screampark which took place on September 15, 2012.

858: Total number of miles spent on Michigan’s roadways seeking out that next haunt fix.

120: Number of miles traveled (one way) to the furthest haunt of the year; an honor that belongs to St. Charles’ Village of the Living Dead.

7: Consecutive years that we have visited the haunted offerings of the Wyandotte Jaycees.

3.39: Average overall star rating of haunted attractions in 2013.
